The focus for U12s and U13s is learning, development, fun
and social interaction.
As per the FFA curriculum, skill acquisition in a small
sided format is the key focus for this age group.
Our coaches focus on teaching the 4 basic skills (striking
the ball, running with the ball, 1 V 1 and first touch) while also introducing
positional play and team structures.
Match day results are recorded and competition points and ladders
are maintained.
Given that players learn and develop at their own pace, we continue
with grading in U12s/U13s. Players are assessed and allocated to a team which best
fits their level of skill and development needs.
Grading outcomes are Kangaroos (advanced), Wallabies
(intermediate) or Joeys (beginner). The majority of players are assessed as
Wallabies and Joeys so we strongly encourage parents not to become too
preoccupied with grading assessments. Participation at the right level is
paramount to development.
Training sessions are facilitated by volunteer coaches.
The majority of coaches at our Club are parent volunteers.
In some instances, they may be former or current players or coaches of other
sports. All coaches are strongly encouraged to complete an FV/FFA accredited
coaching course for their relevant age group. The Club runs in-house coaching
workshops and supports all coaches through a dedicated development program.
In addition, Future Football academy work with our players
and coaches over the course of the season in a tailored 3-week program.
The
Club also offers an 8-week goalkeeper training program.
It is a mandatory requirement for all coaches to complete a
Working with Children check.
